The Khalil Square Project:

This proposal focuses on the design of an open space in the city of Makkah through a research study titled: “Redesigning Neglected Open Spaces Along Highways Within Cities to Improve Aspects of the Urban Landscape.”
The study aims to establish a strategy for revitalizing these spaces to enhance urban aesthetics, reinforce architectural identity, and elevate the quality of life within the city. The proposed methodology seeks to identify suitable uses for these spaces and then apply these strategies to a selected case study area.The concept behind the design of Khalil Square involves illustrating one of the key narratives of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), peace be upon him, to create a social environment that revitalizes the square and fosters community engagement.
