About the department :
The Department of Environmental Architecture was established under the umbrella of the School of Environmental Design in 1396, affiliated with the College of Engineering. The Department of Environmental Architecture is considered the first in the Middle East and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to offer a bachelor’s degree in this specialty. The bachelor’s program has been developed over the years from a 6-year program to its current 4-year program. In addition to the above, in 2018, the department’s administration obtained the approval of the King Abdulaziz University Council to begin offering the master’s degree. The department also has an elite group of professors who graduated from high-level international universities. What distinguishes the department since its establishment is that its students have won awards at the local, regional and international levels.

That the department seeks, through the development of education, scientific research and practical application, to enrich the sciences and arts of environmental architecture, and that its programs contain the protection and improvement of the natural, human and built environments, with a focus on natural resources and the open space system, while taking care of social and cultural particularities in a way that serves society and achieves concepts of sustainability, which It qualifies educationally and research-wise for a professional practice characterized by creative and leadership capabilities in the fields of environmental architecture at the local and global levels, which contributes to supporting sustainable national plans (Vision 2030) and raising the quality of development performance.
