Abstract : Highlights the importance of this message as it deals with the study and analysis of the phenomenon of random housing in Medina through a geographic perspective and purpose of this study to locate the indiscriminate spread of housing, and the causes of its appearance, taking into account the identification of social and economic characteristics of the urban and housing, is also intended to identify problems and analysis and through access to appropriate solutions to those problems for the development and upgrading them. To achieve these goals, a researcher engaged in data collection, distributed a questionnaire to the community of study as the main tool to collect data examined in the field, the researcher also used some statistical methods to analyze the data to extract the results of its study such as: (Kai-square, Spearman correlation coefficient and multiple regression and other ....). The findings of this study to a number of results to show that the largest number of slums are concentrated in the neighborhood (Moghaislp), followed by each of the neighborhood (Asefrain) and (Bani Zafar). Emerged as the contribution of urban plans to increase the number of slums are lacking the most basic planning rules so as not to absorb all the continuing population increases, and the migration of rural prominent role in the emergence of the phenomenon of random housing in a number of neighborhoods, and as a result of the nature of immigrants from the villages of the city and who wish to have their homes in one place. It was shown that there is variation in the gradient between the urban slums, and because of the history of the emergence of the building and construction materials, and supply of public utilities and services. The study concluded that some recommendations that may contribute to the development of urban sprawl and through the identification of broad lines represent the major strategies and policies proposed as a way to upgrade a building in the city of Medina.
